PORTRAITS OF PREJUDICES

A portraitseries about persons, who faces or faced prejudices, framed in recycled type-case-drawers

The series is about prejudice against people because of their appearance, their gender, their religious or ethnic affiliation, and their age.

Where do these clichés come from and why do we have them? Within a few seconds we judge an unfamiliar person based on external signals and it is all too easy to put the wrong label on this person. I grew up in Germany and when you would quickly put a label on someone you would be told to not „put someone in a drawer“. So this is why the series is framed within old (typing-case-)drawers.

TEST YOURSELF: Look at the paintings – what impression do you have of this person? Then click on „read here“ to see the hidden facts about this person.
